Survey on 24-Hour Live-in Care Work Completed
Between April 12 and June 1, 2024, the Research and Consulting Center for the World of Work (FORBA) and IG24 – Interest group for 24-hour live-in care workers in Austria ran an online survey on the working, employment, and living conditions of caregivers in Austria.
Currently, there is insufficient data on the working, employment, and living conditions of live-in care workers in Austria. As a result, the industry, and its unique problems, remain largely invisible, making the development of systemic solutions rather difficult. To gain a deeper understanding into the reality of live-in care workers, this comprehensive online survey was developed, tested, and conducted in close cooperation with migrant live-in care worker communities.
We are pleased that more than 1200 caregivers from eighteen countries participated in the online survey! A huge thank you to all live-in care workers who took time during their shifts or during breaks in their home countries to carefully complete the survey and share their concerns and observations with us - all of them are important and valuable to us.
The project team is currently analyzing the completed questionnaires. The survey results will be presented on November 19, 2024, during a public event in Vienna, at Urania, between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM. We kindly ask all interested parties to register at:

Data collection on 24-hour live-in carers" is undertaken by the Working Life Research Centre (FORBA) and IG24 – Interest group for 24-hour live-in care workers in Austria in partnership with the Institute for Sociology at the University of Vienna and CuraFAIR - Contact point for 24-hour caregivers.
